To My Father…
She moves through the house
wraith-like
substance as ephemeral
and impacting
as love
as a smile.
She has blood on her forehead
blood on her hands
none of it yours
but did you notice?
There is a dazed look
to her perception
Perhaps the full weight
of your indifference
has concussed her.
Realisation
has sent her fleeing behind her eyes
to some dimmer hibernation
the back of the cave
where harsh light
cannot reach
cannot deal out
its heavy blows.
She wanders through the house
sylph-like
ever immutable
yet flowing
adapting
to the ever changing environment.
She has tears on her cheeks
tears on her lips
none of them yours
but did you notice?
No. She is a river
and you cannot tell salt
from fresh water
and we both know
you do not dare
taste of either.
She creeps through the house
thief-like
stealing peace
that she, herself, begot.
She has grey in her hair
grey in her wan smile
none of it yours
but did you notice?
She has become old in your uncaring hands
she has aged a century
in thirty seven years.
She fell down yesterday
and last week
and last month
did you notice?
No. She is the wraith leaving you
undisturbed
unbothered
by her presence
by her hurts.
She is the sylph
moved by tidal waves
but
undisturbed
unbothered
by the storm.
She is the intruder
in her own home
taking less
than what is rightfully hers
leaving you
undisturbed
unbothered
by her hunger
by her poverty.
Her charity
makes her beautiful
and ageless
even within
the crypt of your indifference.
Did you notice?
Your wife,
my mother,
glows
Have you noticed?

Thank you, Beth. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment.
That was extremely powerful. You have a gift with words.
Wow. That is just…awesome.
The repeated phrasing on long stanzas begs to be spoken. Softly, rising, like an invocation.
I love it!
That was absolutely beautiful
Molli… that was beautiful
You never cease to amaze me.
Beth, Fox, Arcadia, Tanae and Jeremy my thanks to you all for your kind words.
And Jeremy… what can I say about you stumbling my blog? A seriously strong case of the ‘warm and fuzzies’ ensued upon discovering that! In a week or so of niceness, that was the icing on the cake
(It also seems to have added an extra five hundred hits on my page that day and sent my blog to #8 of the fastest growing blogs on Wordpress for the 23rd of May! I’m blaming/crediting you with that since I’m sure it was nothing I did!
It’s a wonderful world, that I can wake up to such beautiful things to read. Painful, but beautiful too. Once again, your talent has floored me, Molli.

Yay! Happy to have helped more people discover your wonderful work!
StumbleUpon was something I discovered from a friend long ago. I signed up, used it for about a month, then had to uninstall a bunch of stuff and never got around to re-installing it. Thank you for reminding me about it, because I do so love it. The randomness is just beautiful, and you find the BEST THINGS.
